I Feel Like I’m Not Enough for God [A Message for You]

What makes you think any man can deserve God in our fallen and sinful nature? Nothing can make us in and by ourselves make us worthy of God. It’s an impossible act.

Only God Himself, by His mercy and grace through Jesus Christ that can make us into His children who can approach Him with boldness.

The whole system of the world revolves around giving something before you can receive. You have to work before you earn. You have to read before you pass any exams.

You have to pay for transportation. You pay to use or get anything.

So, working for things is so ingrained into our being and culture that it even affects the lense with which we view our walk with God.

When we falter and fall into sin, we suddenly feel like we are not good enough for God anymore because of that.

And I’m intentionally using “we,” because I understand how this feels. I struggle with guilt of not being worthy of God. The situation around it even made it worse.

Feeling unworthy of God will only draw you further away from God. And that will cause more damage than you think.

God wants you to stay with Him cos He is the only one who can empower you to exercise your dominion over sin

Yes, you’ve hurt God because He doesn’t like sin. But you need to understand that He doesn’t want you staying there beating yourself up.

He wants you to come to Him in humility and repentance. The Bible says in 1 John 1:9 that, “but if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.”

You need to remember that you are only saved by grace, not by what you did. This is because God didn’t want you to be able to boast.

No man will be able to boast before God that his works saved him. Salvation resides in Jesus alone!

The Bible says this in Ephesians 2:8-9, “God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it.”

Your Past Mean Nothing Anymore

And if yours seems to be the guilt from what you have done before coming to believe in Christ, I need to let you know that God has forgiven you.

You need to forgive yourself and accept the forgiveness of God.

No matter what you have done in the past, it has no more hold on you because of your faith in the finished works of Jesus Christ.

The devil can try to attack you by bringing your past back to the forefront of your mind.

Your Righteousness is Like Filthy Rags

There’s a tendency for us to want to be able to say we are able to receive from God because we worked for it. But no one will be able to boast in Himself, except in the grace of God.

Your prayers aren’t answered because you are morally upright. Your relationship with God is not hinged on your moral uprightness!

Even when you think you are morally upright, the judgment eyes of the mercy of God will show you how flawed you are. You will even be surprised to know that you are not as upright as you think.

In Isaiah 65:6, the Bible says, “we are all infected and impure with sin. When we display our righteous deeds, they are nothing but filthy rags. Like autumn leaves, we wither and fall, and our sins sweep us away like the wind.”

So, this is to say that human beings are all flawed. Only those who have put their faith in Jesus have the ability to live above sin by the help of the Spirit of God.

And this is why you should completely put your faith in Jesus, and not your feelings. Either you feel it or not, once you believe in Jesus, you have come into the finished works of Christ.

Just Believe in Him and Keep Following Him

Putting your total faith in Him is what Jesus wants. You must trust Him completely.

Your faith in His sacrifice on the cross makes you whole!

His sacrifice on the cross made grace available for forgiveness of sins to be granted to you.

Your faith in His sacrifice on the cross justified you.

Put your faith in His sacrifice. The more you know Him, the more you easily live His life, love Him more and obey His will.

The  journey is not a one-shot thing — It is marathon. He has called us to Himself. So, you will continually know him and He will reveal Himself to you.

You can seek to know Him by studying and meditating on the Bible, thinking about His greatness, praying and fellowshipping with other believers.

God Just Want All of You

All God want is just all of you! That you love Him with everything within you. That He is indeed your Lord, as He saved you.

Jesus said in Matthew 22:37, ““Jesus replied, “‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment.”

Just love Him with all of you. This will show in your pursuit to know Him more intimately.

Only when you truly love Him that you can do his bidding, will and desire.

Bear the Fruit of Salvation

God gives us the power to live above sin by the Spirit of God living in us but we need to also understand that we have to exercise the power He has given us.

This means you have a role to play in bearing the fruits out of the seed He has planted in you.

Just keep knowing Him and let your mind stay on doing what your Savior wills.

Bearing the fruits of salvation is more like having a gift you have always needed. You will take care of the gift so well and use it effectively.

Exercise all the powers God has given us by His Spirit, including the dominion you have over sin and the devil himself.
