Killer of Faith: Laziness Among Saints
A man said “if you want to hide something from a black man, hide it in a book, He will never find it… to study, he has no time. All he knows to do is to talk and talk and talk… “I’ll not be wrong if I call this fifth ‘killer of faith’ the chief killer of faith.
How is Laziness a Killer of Faith?
The Bible stated “Faith cometh by hearing – the word of God”
FAITH COMETH BY THE WORD OF GOD – HEARD, READ….ASSIMILATED
there’s no other way through which you can get faith except by these ways.
Now, A man who is not diligent, lazy, slack, who doesn’t give time to study the word of God to
- know more about God
- increase in knowledge and revelation.
- pray – to communicate and receive from God.
This kind of man cannot have a successful walk with God. It’s not possible, he’ll die off in no time! Laziness is a big killer of faith
Let me diverge a little.
Hard work and diligence is the key to SUCCESS!
For example, when we were still younger, we had friends who weren’t born again like we are and these friends excel in academics than us because they give time to STUDY, they are diligent.
Look at this, Proverbs 22:29 KJV
“Seest thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men .”
Here, the writer didn’t say ‘righteous man’, ‘upright man’ or ‘Holy Spirit-filled’ man’ … NO!! He said “a man” , a version of the Bible said “ANY MAN”
HEY! I’m not encouraging you to leave God out of your life but there’s this truth you ought to know which is obvious to us but we shun it off.
The truth is ANY MAN WHO IS DILIGENT WILL GET ONE RESULT – SUCCESS (all things being equal).
So, If you are the type of Christian who wakes up everyday without praying or studying your Bible before your daily activities, Hey! You can’t last in the faith – fellowshipping with God through prayer, fasting and study of God’s word is what FUELS OUR FIRE – IT’S THE FOOD OF THE SPIRIT (don’t get this wrong).
There’s somebody there, what I’m about to say is directly to you.
You find it difficult to go to Church during weekly services, even on Sundays, you’re always late.
You’re ‘useless’ in God’s house, you can’t evangelize, sing with the choir and usher, you can’t do any. Taking care of God’s house is difficult for you.
The last time you opened your Bible was on Sunday during the sermon, you even came in during the sermon. Fasting is the greatest ‘burden’ to you.
Hey! Jesus Christ, filled with the HOLY GHOST fasted for FORTY DAYS AND NIGHTS before starting his ministry. And you’re born of flesh and blood and you can’t create time to talk and hear from God. Hey! You can’t last long.
As an individual, I have not been able to stay fervent and obedient to God when I don’t study my Bible and pray. Since these things fuel the fire of God in you, if you and I don’t do them, We can’t last long. Our faiths will die if we neglect these things.
Check: How To Find Your Purpose
Pastor Kumuyi is vast and able to relate scriptures to scriptures because he gives time to study the scriptures.
Evan Roberts pray for hours daily, I’m not surprised he shook Wales.
Ayo Babalola was able to discern the 150 Psalms rightly and he prayed and prayed. Are you surprised he shook the powers of darkness during his lifetime?
Kenneth Hagins had a prayer team, they pray day and night switching turns. You shouldn’t be surprised that signs and miracles followed his ministry.
What Laziness in Faith Can Cost You
IF YOU ARE LAZY, YOU CAN’T BE USEFUL FOR GOD, YOU CAN’T BE A BLESSING TO YOUR GENERATION.
Even those who are not Christians who are remembered today ain’t lazy.
A lazy man leaves behind nothing to remember, HE COMES TO THE WORLD AND DIE OFF, NO MAN REMEMBERS HIM!
Laziness is a killer of Faith. IF YOU WANT TO KEEP YOUR FAITH IN GOD, IF YOU WANT TO BE USEFUL TO GOD AND YOUR GENERATION, DEAL WITH LAZINESS IN YOUR LIFE. CUT IT OFF, GIVE YOURSELF IN TO STUDY, CUT OFF UNNECESSARY THINGS. Your excellence in all spheres of life is dependent on the effort you make, how diligent you are!
Proverbs 6:6-11 KJV
Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise:
 Which having no guide, overseer, or ruler,
 Provideth her meat in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest.
 How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard? when wilt thou arise out of thy sleep?
 Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep:
 So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth, and thy want as an armed man.
Proverbs 30:25-28 KJV
The ants are a people not strong, yet they prepare their meat in the summer;
 The conies are but a feeble folk, yet make they their houses in the rocks;
 The locusts have no king, yet go they forth all of them by bands;
 The spider taketh hold with her hands, and is in kings’ palaces.
As much as spiritual greatness lies in you, so does laziness can stop it from manifestation.
