What Must I Do To Be Saved?

What must I do to be saved

Is salvation far-fetched? Probably, you have been wondering about that thing called salvation. Well, it’s not just a thing, it’s more than that.   What is the meaning of salvation? How can I be saved? What must I do to be saved?

  What is Salvation?

Salvation is a gift of God from God to mankind to restore the communion and intimacy. God sent His Son to the earth to die for the sins of us all. That sounds too good right? Yeah, Jesus died for all our sins. You might be wondering why Jesus had to die for us? His blood serves as an atonement for our sins. He loves us and doesn’t want us to perish. He died so we can live.

Ephesians 2:8-9 “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.”

Wrong Meanings of Salvation

Do I really have to talk about this? Yes, I think I really need to do so we won’t be mistaking salvation for another thing. So what are the wrong meanings given to salvation:

  • Being religious and churchy:

The basis of salvation is not your numerous church attendance, neither is it your work in church.

  • Keeping the law:

The law is not the giver of salvation, sticking to the law doesn’t guarantee salvation, Jesus does.

Romans 3:20 – Therefore no one will be declared righteous in God’s sight by the works of the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of our sin.

  • Self righteousness:

Isaiah 64:6All of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags; we all shrivel up like a leaf, and like the wind our sins sweep us away.

  • Water Baptism:

Probably some people believes if you don’t get baptized, you are not saved. This is wrong, baptism is necessary but not the basis of salvation.

What Must I Do To Be Saved?

Acknowledge your sins:

Accept that you are a sinner.  Acknowledge your own sins, accept that fact that you can’t save yourself. As I said earlier, Salvation is a gift of God to mankind. Be ready to receive it.

Jesus said “And he that comes to me will I in no wise cast away”

Repent genuinely of your sins:

Repentance means a change of heart, feeling remorseful for the wrongdoings. Be ready to forsake those wrongdoings

2 Corinthians 7:10 Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death.

Believe in Jesus Christ:

Believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, believe that He came to die for your sins on the cross of Calvary. All you need is just to believe in His name, Jesus.

Romans 10:9That if you shall confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and shall believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved

Acts 16:30-31 “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” So they said, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household.”

John 5:24 “Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life.

Confess the Lordship of Jesus Christ in your life:

Make the confession, that Jesus should take over your life. Call on His name, he’s ready to save you from your sinful past.  Just pour your heart to Him. Say this simple salvation prayer  “Lord Jesus, I now acknowledge my sins. I believe you are the Son of God, I believe that you died for my sins and only you can save me. I confess your lordship over my life, I accept you into my life. Come and give me a new life”

Romans 10:10For with heart man believes unto righteousness: and with mouth confession is made unto salvation

If you have made this decision today , I’m really happy for you. I congratulate you. You have the joined the family of God, you can smile. You’re welcome to the family of God. Your past is over in Jesus Christ, you now have a new life.

2 Corinthians 5:17  “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!

Congratulations once again, if you have this decision to follow Jesus Christ. You should
